Farmers celebrate young dogs and their old tricks

It's one side of Kiwi culture and a side of our proud farming history we don’t see much of these days – mustering sheep with man's best friend.

The practice is still used by hill country farmers every day and there are competitions to see who the best is.

In a remote part of Taranaki, far off the beaten track, farmers were doing exactly that. For them, it's a job during the weekdays but a sport in the weekends.

These are more than just farm dogs, they are the farmers' best mate and it's a relationship built on trust and communication and fostered over many years of hard work.
