Police are asking Plimmerton residents to check their backyards and sheds after Elisabeth (Liz) Loughhran went missing yesterday afternoon.
Her family last saw her at the Plimmerton Boating Club at Karehana Bay just north of Porirua around 5pm.
Police Search and Rescue say they have had a sighting of Ms Loughran around 6pm yesterday on the track north of the Hongoeka Marae.
Liz is a 68-year-old Caucasian woman with shoulder-length brown and grey hair.
She is around 165cm tall and of a very slim build. She has no teeth in at the moment.
She was last seen wearing a green jacket, jeans, a black and yellow top and pink and green sneakers.
The search is continuing at the northern end of Plimmerton, on the hill face and coastal area.
The Westpac rescue helicopter has been deployed to assist the search.
