Theft not motive in assault on Wellington teen - police

  • 19/05/2016

Police are looking for two men, one dressed in black and the other in white, in relation to a serious assault on a 15-year-old girl in Wellington.

The teenager was attacked in a walkway which runs between Mander Pl and Otaki St in the suburb of Miramar around 7:50pm on Sunday.

Police don't think the attack had anything to do with theft because none of the girls' possessions were taken.

They say she got off a Go Wellington bus at the intersection of Park Rd and Miramar Ave carrying a backpack and shopping bag.

She says she saw a man, described as thin and wearing black clothing including a top with a hood, across the road near the shops.

A second man wearing white clothing was walking toward her and is believed to be a witness to the incident.

Police want to hear from anyone who may have seen anything or noticed any suspicious behaviour to contact them.

They believe other passengers on the bus may have seen the man in black.

Anyone who has information should contact Detective Tim McIntosh at Wellington Central Police Station on (04) 318 2000 or alternatively leave information anonymously via Crimestoppers.
