A 22-year-old man is appearing in the Tauranga District Court on Wednesday, charged with the murder of a baby in Tauranga.
Three-month-old Richard Uddin died on June 7 after he was brought to Tauranga Hospital by his mother.
Police then launched a homicide investigation.
The man also faces seven additional charges of assault on a child.
