A person has been shot dead by police in Hamilton during a "pre-planned" search at an address in the suburb of Frankton.
Police cordoned off Grasslands Place, with armed police diverting traffic away from the area.
Witness Paula Simmonds had picked up her dogs from nearby Hamilton Hounds before heading to the Mad Butcher down from Grasslands Pl as the incident began.
"We saw about three cop cars and a whole lot of AOS run into building across from Hamilton Hounds… then there was some shooting," Ms Simmonds said.
The armed offenders squad and police officers were at the scene, as well as the fire service.
