Lower Hutt man 'unlikely to survive' after party beating

A Lower Hutt man found severely beaten after being chased by a group of partygoers is still fighting for his life.

The 21-year-old man, currently in Wellington Hospital, was chased by a group from a 21st party on Cleland Crescent and found with serious head injuries in Naenae in the early hours of Sunday.

He was still hospitalised with life-threatening injuries on Tuesday and police earlier said he was unlikely to survive.

A 27-year-old Hutt Valley man was on Monday arrested and charged with assault.

Police did not rule out further charges.

About 30 people attended the party and police are calling for anyone who went or saw the man to come forward.
