Story talks football, the Queen & his next steps with Sir Jerry Mateparae

It's almost the end for Governor-General Sir Jerry Mateparae which sounds ominous but we can assure you it's not.

At the end of this month he will finish his five-year term and hand the title over to Dame Patsy Reddy.

When he leaves, his portrait will join those of his predecessors and a coat of arms, designed especially for him will take pride of place on the wall.

He has been Head of the Army, Head of the Armed Services, Head of the GCSB and Governor General -- it's an amazing CV.

But before he moves out of Government House, Story caught up with Sir Jerry to find out what it's like spending time with the Queen, talking football with the Pope, who's the most memorable person he has met? And what's next for him?
