Kiwis like to consider themselves open-minded people but there are some things many of us refuse to budge on and that includes where we receive our protein from.

But a couple of young entrepreneurs from Christchurch are now stirring up the New Zealand cuisine pot by offering some of our top restaurants a new type of fare - bugs.

Ants, to be specific; they're full of protein and it could save the planet in time.

Ants On A Shrimp documentary is playing at the New Zealand International Film Festival this year. 

If you want to try Anteater's products, they will be served at Antoine's Restaurant in Auckland, Roots Restaurant and the Mexico restaurants (nationwide) from next week.
