No permission needed for SPCA to put down suffering pets

When you hear about the SPCA coming on to people's properties to save animals, it's almost always a case of obvious animal cruelty.

But there is an exceptional case of the SPCA seizing two cats from an animal lover.

It is legal for them to enter your property, take your pet and put it down if they believe it is suffering unreasonably and you refuse to take your vet's advice.

It's a story so unusual we received three legal warnings before we could even start putting the story together.

The SPCA and the vet say it's not only legal, but it's their legal obligation to act if necessary.
