Almost a dozen more students have been referred to Youth Aid after the massive KFC brawl in Mangere two weeks ago.

The fight, which began as a one-on-one confrontation on August 29, quickly escalated to more than 80 teenagers - and they used knives, plywood and chairs as weapons.

Eleven people under the age of 17 will be referred, in addition to two other juveniles who were arrested shortly after the incident.

Two 17-year-olds are also facing charges on top of the two who were arrested.

Inspector Uraia Vakaruru says the students were identified with the help of schools, witness accounts and cellphone footage.

"We'd like to thank the community for the assistance they have provided us in identifying those involved.

"There is a small key group whose families will be assisting us in preventing a repeat of this behaviour."
