Those looking to escape Auckland for the school holidays are being advised to allow plenty of time to get to the airport.
A breakdown blocking the left lane heading southbound on George Bold Memorial Dr (SH20A) gridlocked the road on Tuesday morning.
The breakdown has now been cleared however motorists should expect "significant delays" from Dominion Rd through to the airport.
As a result, traffic on the alternate route to the airport, Puhinui Rd, is also heavy.
