Health-star ratings: Are they really truthful?

To help us better understand what we are eating, the Government introduced a rating system two years ago.

Browsing the aisles of meals in boxes, you would be right to wonder what is in them, but is the truth really written in those stars?

Many breakfast cereals are advertised as healthy breakfast foods and receive high health-star ratings.

But Consumer NZ is concerned the star-rating can be misleading and some products are undermining consumer confidence of the whole system.

It wants to see changes made, starting with making the scheme compulsory.
