Nelson teen grabbed on way to school

Nelson police will be operating extra patrols after a teenage girl was grabbed on her way to school.

The teen was approached by a man in Norwich St at about 8:20am on Monday.

He grabbed her shoulder and started to talk to her, which the teen says made her uncomfortable. She then made her way to her school and reported the incident.

Police say they're following "strong lines of inquiry" into the man's identity but ask anyone with information to contact them on (03) 546 3840.

Several schools are in the area including Nayland Primary School, Nayland College and Birchwood School.
