The Kiwis behind world's fastest Mini Cooper

When it comes to the world's favourite cars, the '60s Mini has always been a head-turner.

But even the genius who designed it, Alec Issigonis, couldn't have imagined what a bunch of Kiwis would manage to make it do.

They took one and tweaked it until it broke the land speed record; simply put, it's the world's fastest Mini Cooper.

Last night it was also the star of former talk show host Jay Leno's new television show in the US. His passion for cars puts him right up there with Top Gear.

Story was in Wellington to meet the geniuses behind the Kiwi rocket.
