Three people have been found dead on a rural Waikato property.

Police were called to a property on Kawhia Harbour Rd in Taharoa, just south of Kawhia, at around 7pm on Friday.

A Holden Vectra Saloon, which has been the subject of the investigation into the stabbing of a couple in Ōtorohanga, has been found at the property.

Police have been searching for 34-year-old Ross Bremner since Tuesday, after his mother was found stabbed to death at her Ōtorohanga home and his father was critically wounded.

Early indications suggest the three people found at the Taharoa property are all known to each other, however police have yet to formally identify them.

Waikato Police Acting District Commander Naila Hassan says while the incident will be "unsettling and alarming" to the community, it's not believed there is any risk to the public.

The property will be guarded by police overnight and the scene will be examined on Saturday.
