Police won't be releasing more details of last night's discovery of three dead bodies at a property in King Country until midday Saturday.

A person visiting the property on Kawhia Harbour Rd in Taharoa, just south of Kawhia, called police on Friday night about 7pm after finding the bodies.

A Holden Vectra Saloon, which has been the subject of the investigation into the stabbing of a couple in Otorohanga, was also found at the property.

Police have been hunting 34-year-old Ross Bremner since Tuesday's stabbing, which left Mr Bremner's mother dead and his father critically wounded.

The three people found dead in Taharoa are believed to have known each other. One is believed to have recently turned 80.

Waikato Police Acting District Commander Naila Hassan said while the incident will be "unsettling and alarming" to the community, it's not believed there is any risk to the public.

Mr Bremner has been treated for mental health and drug addiction issues in the past.

The scene in Taharoa is being examined Saturday morning.

Earlier this week the best man at the wedding of Mr Bremners' parents urged him to hand himself in to police.

"Ross, we love you. We can get through this. Turn yourself in. We're not here to judge you - we're here to help you," said Geoff Benefield.

"Your family still love you, and they want to see you back in the land of the living and get through this."
