A 59-year-old has died in mysterious circumstances after police responded to a "family harm incident" in the Hamilton suburb of Nawton on Saturday night.
Detective Senior Sergeant Nigel Keall says police were called to the address after reports of a disturbance at approximately 5:20pm yesterday.
Police are trying to determine if the incident is linked to the man's subsequent death.
A 29-year-old man has been arrested and will appear in court on Monday on two charges of assault.
The coroner has been advised and no further information is available at this time.
