Police are investigating an aggravated robbery at a convenience store in Christchurch early on Monday morning.

Three people brandishing weapons entered the Night and Day store on Ferry Road in Woolston just after 4am and stole cash and cigarettes.

Police said one staff member was present.

One robber was said to be wearing a red hoodie and one a black hoodie. All were wearing balaclavas.

The incident is the third robbery at the store in as many months.

Cash and cigarettes were stolen by thieves brandishing weapons in August and early October.
