A child who had been impaled on a fence has been rescued by emergency services.

The boy was stuck on a fence at Owairoa School in east Auckland.

Ambulance and medical staff were there helping the child, and two fire crews were there to cut the metal barrier.

Emergency services were called to the school at around 5pm.

The fire service says the boy was finally freed just after 5:30pm.
