Members of the public have made dozens of calls to police about the abduction and sexual assault of an 11-year-old boy in west Auckland.
The boy was taken from the Ranui area on Thursday afternoon and police have received dozens of calls with information from the public.
"Due to the nature of the incident, police will not be in a position to speak with the victim until the middle of next week. Additional patrols will be evident in the area over the next few days," says Detective Senior Sergeant Jason McIntosh.
Police are still asking for anyone who may have seen a grey van, between about 3:55pm and 8pm on Thursday.
