Kiwi first-home buyers facing average mortgage of $390k

Labour leader Andrew Little says young Kiwis are struggling with record mortgage debt and the Government needs to start building affordable homes.

The Reserve Bank has released new data showing loans for first homebuyers have jumped 43 percent in just two years.

New Zealand Initiative executive director Oliver Hartwich spoke to Mark Sainsbury, saying the housing ladder has "lost its bottom rung".
