A man is in hospital with a serious head injury after being assaulted in Lower Hutt overnight.
The 33-year-old was assaulted just after midnight in Stokes Valley.
Police are investigating and ask any witnesses to an incident in Hanson Grove to come forward.
A scene examination will be conducted on Saturday.
