One person is dead after a car collided with a bus carrying cruise ship passengers back to Tauranga on Tuesday.
The incident occurred on State Highway 29, east of Te Poi.
No cruise ship passengers were injured in the incident, and they were transferred back to the ship by another bus and are currently being supported by the ship's victim support.
"The safety and wellbeing of tourists in our region is of the utmost importance. Now, our concern is with the victims and supporting the investigations that are underway," says Tourism Bay of Plenty CEO Kristin Dunne.
It comes after an American tourist was killed after her bike collided with a truck in Tauranga on Tuesday afternoon.
The 71-year-old female cruise passenger was part of a harbour side cycle tour.
Police are investigating both incidents.
