The first delivery of sausages since last week's quake finally arrived at New World Kaikōura on Tuesday.

A chopper arrived to help the supermarket stock up their shelves with the first shipment of sausages since the 7.8 magnitude quake.

While the supermarket may have been without sausages for a week, amazingly the big shake only smashed five bottles of wine. The wine fell against nappies and toilet paper, which protected them.

"We expected to probably save five bottles, I'd have been pretty happy" says Kaikōura New World owner Glen Steele.

"It was an absolute mess, our team has done an amazing job to get it back up and running."

Economic Development Minister Steven Joyce spoke with businesses in Kaikōura today and paid a visit to the New World supermarket.

New World is one of the businesses who will be getting a helping hand from the Government's emergency business package, which has now been extended to all operations - not just those with fewer than 20 employees.
