Tom Cruise's ‘Jack Reacher’ jacket Kiwi-made and hot property worldwide

A Kiwi-made jacket is now the hottest property worldwide after one of Hollywood's biggest stars donned it in his latest blockbuster.

The jacket, made by Kiwi company Rodd and Gunn, has been dubbed the "Jack Reacher Jacket" after Tom Cruise demanded to wear it in the movie.

Mike Beagley, who owns Rodd and Gunn, admits Cruise has gone from his most-hated actor to his most-loved.

"We just opened in Newport, California and we sold 26 in one week in one store. It's fantastic."

The jacket has basically sold out in America and there are none left in distribution.

Mr Beagley says he underestimated just how big it would be.

"We've been bashing away for four years and all of a sudden this lifts you above the pack a fair bit."

The jacket's designer took inspiration from another Hollywood great, Steve McQueen, and it was first sold seven years ago.

Michael Keaton, Ryan Philippe also own the jacket and Leonardo DiCaprio recently bought $3000 worth of product.
