For the earthquake victims in Kaikoura still dealing with the aftermath; celebrating Crate Day was a moment of light relief.
Some people have been put out of work while others have lost their homes following the natural disaster.
One local contacted The Rock to organise a Kaikoura Crate Day to give the community a break so the radio station helicoptered beers into town.
Locals gathered around the pool during the sunny weekend for swims, beer pong and even arm wrestles.
