A Whakatane driver had a terrifying moment on Friday morning after losing control of the vehicle and ended up teetering precariously on the edge of a wharf.
The man was driving his father’s car, which had been set up for a disabled person to control.
As he was driving near the wharf, off The Strand, he moved the wrong control and the car ploughed through a gate before coming to its dramatic stop.
The driver escaped unharmed, and the car only had minor damage. The Fire Service and police arrived to help move it back on the road.
