A missing boatie has been found deceased on Sunday after an aerial search.
The 44-year-old male left Whangarei on Saturday morning bound for Great Barrier Island, and said he would return to Urquharts Bay on Saturday night.
However he didn't return, and attempts to contact him were unsuccessful.
His last known position was midway between Great Barrier Island and the Mokohinau Islands.
Coastguard Air Patrol were airborne Sunday morning and found his yacht with the man dead inside.
He is believed to have died from a medical event.
