Dairy store owner attacked over a loaf of bread

Police are still searching for the attacker.

A Hastings dairy store owner has been attacked over a loaf of bread.

The man entered the Duke Street Dairy store in Mahora on Wednesday, police say.

After a scuffle he punched the owner in the head several times, giving him two black eyes.

The attacker fled after being hit with a stick, but shortly after his 26-year-old girlfriend returned and threatened the owners with an axe.

She has been arrested, but police are still searching for the man.
