A 16-year-old boy has died after a hit-and-run in west Auckland overnight.
He was found unconscious on Glen Eden's Rua Rd just after midnight on Sunday and emergency services were unable to revive him.
The teenager was found just across the road from the Humbug Café. A skateboard lay in the gutter nearby, and appeared to be missing two of its wheels.
Police are appealing for the vehicle's driver, or anyone who knows who it is, to contact them.
Anyone who has been asked to repair a car which may have been involved in a crash overnight or knows a driver who is acting suspiciously is also asked to come forward.
A post-mortem is underway and the serious crash unit is investigating.
