Photos: Weather chaos hits upper North Island

Wild weather wreaked havoc overnight in Auckland, with heavy rain and high winds knocking down power lines and causing major power outages across the region. 

About 15,000 homes Auckland homes have been without power for much of Sunday.

A Taranaki couple held a wedding after-party on Saturday night. They say a group of around 20 people were celebrating under a marque when the storm rolled through, resulting in this:
