The search and rescue operation for a 19-year-old German tourist at Mt Taranaki has had a successful outcome on Wednesday morning after she was located by search and rescue teams.

The woman was last seen on a CCTV camera at 10am on Monday at the North Egmont Visitor Centre.

At least 20 staff from the Air Force, DOC and Search and Rescue joined in on the search.

An Air Force NH90 helicopter was also called in to drop search teams off on the mountain while also searching rivers by air.

Police say the woman is being assessed by ambulance staff.
