Teenager crashes stolen car in Christchurch

A 15-year-old male crashed a stolen car into a car yard in Christchurch on Monday morning.

Police say the teen was driving dangerously and failed to stop for police before he crashed the vehicle into a car yard on the corner of Ferry Road at 2:41am leaving a trail of debris and damage.

Two other youths were in the vehicle at the time but were uninjured in the crash.

The driver has been charged with unlawfully getting in a motor vehicle, dangerous driving and failing to stop.

The accident comes just weeks after three teenagers were killed on Boxing Day when an unlicensed driver lost control at an intersection south of Christchruch.
