Remuera schools in lockdown

Police are standing down after swarming to the central Auckland suburb of Remuera, after a man called emergency services saying an injured woman had been found in Woodley Avenue.

The Eagle helicopter has left and schools are no longer in lockdown. No one has been arrested at this stage, and no injured woman has been found.

Remuera Kindergarten, St Kentigern Junior School and Remuera Intermediate all went into lockdown as a precaution.

"When I turned up to pick my daughter up the dog squad had just turned into the street, pulled straight into a driveway. Three marked police cars turned up," a retired police officer on the scene says.

"The dog guy got out and started tracking straight away with the armed officers straight up into Woodley.

"From what we've been told someone has tried to enter a premises down Woodley and apparently that's where they're still holed up."

There have been no other reports about any unusual behaviour in the area.

Enquiries around the original caller and the information provided by that person are ongoing.
