At least two helicopters and four fire trucks are responding to a scrub fire near Wanaka that caused the evacuation of at least two homes.
The Fire Service says the fire covered an area of 500m.
Despite high winds and warm temperatures, they were able to contain the fire quickly.
A video filmed by celebrity chef Annabel Langbein captures a helicopter with a monsoon bucket trying to put out the fire.
An investigation will get underway to determine what caused the fire.
