Air NZ celebrates its high-flying female staff

  • 08/03/2017

Air New Zealand has flown the flag for the nearly 5000 women reaching great heights at the national airline, as well as those placed firmly on the ground.

In a video released on Wednesday to mark International Women's Day on March 8, the airline showed some of the female faces in different roles around the company.

There are those we  might see daily like customer service operators and flight attendants, to the ones working behind the scenes, like the digital strategists and flight planners.

Air New Zealand captioned the video with "4,900 remarkable women make us fly every day - this is our thank you. Which woman inspires you? #InternationalWomensDay".

Commenters on Facebook tagged in female friends and family members who work for the airline, giving them their own recognition for their work.

"My wife Duty Operations Control Manager Michelle Shirley with the airline 22 years and started part time on the front line checking people in, well done darling you are our family's inspiration" one commenter wrote.

"The inspirational women of Air New Zealand! Another fantastic video by Clare Louise. An amazingly talented young woman who should have her face in this and not just behind the Camera!!!!!" wrote another.

International Women's Day is also being marked on Facebook, with a 24-hour live event as part of its #shemeansbusiness program. Lizzie Marvelly will launch the global event with a 30 minute Live video from Facebook's Auckland office, before women in different countries around the world will go Live on Facebook throughout the day. The final video will be hosted by Facebook's Chief Operating Officer Sheryl Sandberg at FB HQ in California.
