A person trapped in a west Auckland toilet for four hours will likely be relieved after being rescued by firefighters.

Firefighters were called to the Glenmall Place public toilets in the suburb of Glen Eden just after 11pm on Wednesday.

The fire service managed to break in and release the person shortly after arriving.

In November 2016 a man was found dead in the toilet cubicle. Police said it was a medical-related incident.
