One person has been killed in a two-car crash in Dome Valley, north Auckland.
A second person was moderately injured.
Police and emergency services were at the scene of the collision on SH1, which happened just before 7pm.
The road was still closed at 9pm and motorists were being asked to avoid the area while the Serious Crash Unit investigates.
The following diversions were in place:
Port Albert Road /SH1
Kaipara Flats Road/SH1
Wayby Valley Road/SH1
