Australian news show gives New Zealand a twin

New Zealand briefly became 'Two Zealand' on Wednesday night, after an Australian news bulletin showed a world map featuring two images of our country.

ABC News displayed the secondary image of New Zealand during a story about a nine-year-old asylum seeker who is fleeing Iran.  As a graphic of the world revolved showing the travelling distance between Australia and Iran, viewers spotted the mistake.

The second New Zealand was located about 4200km east of the actual country.

ABC's 'Media watch' acknowledged its network's mistake, tweeting on Thursday that 'one New Zealand is never enough'.

Some replies to the tweet were that the country should be perhaps named 'Newer Zealand' or 'New New Zealand'.
