A one-year-old child has drowned in a pond at a house in Kaikohe.
Police and ambulance staff were called to the property around 11:40am, after the child was found unresponsive in the water on the property.
Senior Sergeant Brian Swann said police are making inquiries into the incident. The child's family is being supported by police and Victim Support.
