Man critically injured in incident at Ōtāhuhu Station

A man has been critically injured after attempting to ride on a moving flat deck train carriage at Ōtāhuhu train station, in Auckland's southeast.

Police trying to identify the man, whom they describe as "of solid build, wearing blue denim shorts, a white t-shirt, white running shoes, a blue cap and is believed to be of Māori or Pacific Island descent".

Police were called to the station at 1:25pm on Thursday and the man was taken to Middlemore hospital was "significant injuries", Inspector Tony Edwards said.

Anyone who may be able to help police identify the man is urged to contact the Manukau Police Station on (09) 261 1300.

The train line has since been reopened.
