No kidding: Man fined $400 over boy's joyride with goat

A man who was supervising a young child driving a car with a goat in the back seat in Whitianga has been spoken to by police - and fined $400.

The unusual scene was filmed by resident Gaz Walden who was following behind the Ford Falcon. The video was posted to Facebook earlier this week.

As he catches up to the car after it pulls over and expressed his dismay, an adult gets out and says "he's actually training".

Police have confirmed to Newshub the child and his parents have been spoken to, and a man had been fined $400 for "aiding and abetting an unlicensed driver".

Newshub understands the goat belongs to the family and has been seen in a number of public areas around the town.
