Police have arrested a man after a stabbing in the south Auckland suburb of Papakura on Thursday afternoon in what police are describing as a domestic incident.

Emergency services were called to the scene just after 4pm and found a man with a stab wound to the abdomen and a woman with moderate injuries.

Both are now in Middlemore hospital.

The alleged offender originally fled the scene before being arrested by police in Manuwera.
