A liquor store in Christchurch was ram-raided early on Monday morning, the thieves taking off with booze.

A stolen Nissan Primera reversed through the store's glass front doors at 2:20am, police say.

The car was left running while two offenders went into the store, collecting alcohol.

A second vehicle pulled up, the offenders loading their booty into it.

They left east along Yaldhurst Rd, leaving the Nissan parked in the store, still running. That vehicle was stolen around 4pm Sunday afternoon from Riccarton.

Witnesses or anyone with knowledge of the crime is urged to call police on (03) 363 7400 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
