Northland Police have made an easy arrest after catching two of New Zealand's dumbest thieves in action on Monday.
"Sometimes we have to work hard to solve a crime & investigate the matter to the nth degree, but sometimes, like yesterday they fall into our laps," they wrote on Facebook.
The "boneheads" broke into a house in Whangarei and stole the TV, the homeowner's supply of homebrew and a CCTV camera.
"What they forgot to do was check how much fuel they had in their vehicle," the police continued.
"We found them high tailing it away from their vehicle just down the road from the burglary. Their denials fell on deaf ears after reviewing the CCTV images."
