An Auckland family had a frightening wake-up call when two would-be burglars fired a shotgun in their home.
Police were alerted to the robbery attempt on Kotahi Rd in Mt Wellington just before 3am on Saturday morning.
No one was injured during the break-in and the men fled shortly after.
A scene examination is underway.
