Kiwi jumper smashes world bungee record

  • 24/05/2017

A daring thrillseeker leaped off the Auckland Harbour Bridge on Tuesday night in the name of charity - again, and again, and again.

After breaking the Guinness World Record for the most bungee jumps in 24 hours with 160 jumps on Tuesday night, Mike Heard is still going on Wednesday.

Mr Heard's mission is all in the name of charity, raising money for the Mental Health Foundation.

"There's a lot happening at the moment - Mike King's been in the news a lot lately, Chris Cornell last week took his own life, legendary rocker, and I think New Zealand has a problem we don't quite want to admit," he told Newshub.

It's not his first time leaping for charity. In 2008, he took on the same mission, to crack the world record for most jumps in 24 hours.

Back then, he broke the record with 103 jumps in 10 hours - a third fewer than he's undertaking eight years on.

Mr Heard's last record attempt raised $5000 for the Cure Kids medical research charity.

People wanting to donate to his mission can text BUNGY to 2446 to make a $3 donation.
