A person has been hit by a train in the south Auckland suburb of Manurewa.
Police say they were called to the scene south of the Te Mahia train station at 6:08am on Monday morning.
The person died.
Auckland Transport says trains have been cancelled from Papakura to Homai on the southern line. Rail replacement buses will be running.
Meanwhile a signal fault temporarily stopped Western line train services at Henderson, creating commuter chaos. They have since been restored.
