For the third time in the last few weeks, staff have been robbed on their way to a cash-in-transit vehicle.

The latest incident took place on Thursday night in Mt Wellington, Auckland. Three men were waiting outside the ASB Bank on Lunn Ave in a green Mazda Demio, police say.

Two of them, both armed with guns, got out of the stolen vehicle and confronted the bank staff.

The getaway wasn't clean, however - their car collided with the cash-in-transit vehicle, and was later dumped in Rutland St, Ellerslie.

It follows a similar robbery outside a Warehouse store in Royal Oak on May 9, and one at an ASB in Mt Roskill on April 20. Each crime was carried with the use of a stolen car.

Police believe all three incidents are linked.

"A search warrant was executed last night in respect of a person that may have been involved in this robbery, and he has been assisting us with our enquiries," says Det Insp Aaron Pascoe.

"He has appeared in court today on unrelated charges and has been remanded in custody."

Anyone with information on the robberies, or who's seen the green Mazda Demio registration KAT221, are urged to call police on (09) 302 6970 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
