Cordons have been lifted in Dunedin after earlier reports of a suspicious package on Moray Place.
A unit from the New Zealand Defence Force were called in from Christchurch to assist.
Police swarmed on the central Dunedin area on Friday afternoon and cordoned off the intersection of Moray Place, Stuart Street and Great King Street, just one block away from the Octagon.
Nearby businesses including the Countdown supermarket have also been evacuated as police continue to maintain the cordoned off area.
